We look forward to our 10th anniversary "Hope for the Future Team" to Romania having the privilege to serve the Lord for two weeks during the summer. The first week of missions opportunity takes place at Speranta Pentru Viitor (Hope for the Future), a Christian camp nestled in the mountains of northern Romania near the town of Sighet, close to the Ukrainian border. The stillness of the mountain sky provides opportunity to get alone with God and let Him speak. For the past 23 years, the Lord has allowed this camping ministry to go forth reaching the children of Romania. The 2nd week is devoted to ministering among gypsy villages under the direction of Brent and Sara George along the border of Hungary, to a people who have been forgotten and separated from the rest of Romanian society. On the weekends, we are involved in tract distribution as we go into town and while sightseeing. We begin our work in the gypsy villages on Saturday with a youth outreach activity. Sunday involves visiting several gypsy village churches giving testimonies, singing, leading children's Bible lessons and songs, and preaching. It is not unusual to visit four different villages throughout the day.

Our Mission

During our first week of camp work our team:

  • teach Bible lessons
  • help in prayer groups
  • give personal testimony
  • sing and teach songs
  • give object lessons
  • coordinate and lead game times
  • make balloon animals
  • share puppets, and skits

Many Romanian children know some English and so free time and meal times are great opportunities to mingle with campers and get to know them. All of our work and ministry culminates in the Thursday night preaching service, where the salvation message is clearly presented and an invitation to accept Christ is given. Each summer scores of Romanian children hear the Gospel for the first time and kneel in prayer to receive the Lord as Savior. The ministry in the gypsy villages involves teaching Bible lessons, singing songs, running game times, and encouraging fellow believers in the work of the Lord.

On the weekends, we are involved in tract distribution as we go into town and sightseeing.  We also assist in a couple of churches through special music, testimonies preaching and children’s ministry.  We also will take a trip to several gypsy villages, gathering the village for a service.

Our History

2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 were tremendous trips to Romania.  God worked in amazing ways in reaching the children of Romania.  We trust and pray that 2018 will again be another fantastic opportunity to be used by God in reaching the people of Romania and using our time for what will count for ETERNITY.
